Logs & Monitoring
Track API requests, monitor response times, and analyze usage patterns with built-in request and activity logs.
Overview
MockAPI provides two types of logging to help you monitor and debug your mock APIs:
- Request Logs: Record of every API request to your mock endpoints
- Activity Logs: Audit trail of actions performed in the dashboard
Additionally, the Dashboard provides visual analytics including request trends, popular endpoints, and quota usage.
Request Logs
Request logs capture every API call made to your mock endpoints. Navigate to Logs → Request Logs in the sidebar to view them.
Log fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Endpoint | The URL path that was requested |
| Method | The HTTP method used (GET, POST, PUT, etc.) |
| Status Code | The HTTP status code returned |
| Response Time | How long the request took to process (in milliseconds) |
| Type | The protocol type: REST, GraphQL, gRPC, or WebSocket |
| API Key | The API key used to authenticate the request |
| IP Address | The IP address of the client that made the request |
| User Agent | The User-Agent header from the request |
| Timestamp | When the request was received |
Filtering and searching
You can filter request logs by:
- HTTP Method: Filter by GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE, etc.
- Status Code: Filter by response status code range
- Request Type: Filter by REST, GraphQL, gRPC, or WebSocket
- Search: Free-text search across endpoint paths
Log retention
Request logs are automatically deleted after a retention period that depends on your plan:
| Plan | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Free | 3 days |
| Developer | 7 days |
| Team | 30 days |
| Business | 90 days |
| Enterprise | 90 days |
Info
Logs are automatically cleaned up daily at 2 AM UTC. Logs older than your plan's retention period are permanently deleted.
Activity Logs
Activity logs provide an audit trail of actions performed by team members within the dashboard. Navigate to Logs → Activity Logs to view them.
Tracked activities
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| User | The team member who performed the action |
| Action | What was done (create, update, delete, etc.) |
| Entity Type | What type of resource was affected (model, endpoint, schema, etc.) |
| Entity ID | The ID of the affected resource |
| Details | Additional context about the change |
| IP Address | The IP address of the user |
| Timestamp | When the action occurred |
Dashboard Analytics
The Dashboard page provides a visual overview of your API usage and project statistics.
Metric cards
Four key metrics are displayed at the top of the dashboard:
- Total Projects: Number of projects in your account
- Total Models: Number of data models across all projects
- Total Endpoints: Number of REST endpoints across all projects
- Total API Requests: Total API calls this month
Monthly quota usage
A progress bar shows your current month's API usage against your plan's monthly limit. The bar changes color as you approach your limit:
- Green: Below 80% of quota
- Yellow/Warning: Between 80% and 95% of quota
- Red/Critical: Above 95% of quota
Warning
When you reach 100% of your monthly quota, API requests will be rejected with a 403 status code. Upgrade your plan or wait for the next billing cycle to restore access.
API usage chart
A line chart shows request trends over time. You can view data for the last week, month, or 3 months to identify usage patterns.
Popular endpoints
A table shows your most frequently called endpoints from the last 30 days, including the endpoint path, HTTP method, and total request count. This helps identify which endpoints are most active.
